Does Standard HiRail repair HiRail hydraulic systems?
Hydraulic repair and railgear work are outside Standard’s service scope. We recommend Commercial Truck Equipment Co. and T&B Fleet Services Ltd. Discuss the equipment, required work and qualifications directly with either provider.
Where can I arrange a HiRail or railgear inspection in Winnipeg?
Speak with Commercial Truck Equipment or T&B Fleet Services to confirm inspection availability for your railgear make and model. T&B lists railgear inspections and adjustments, alignment checks and rail wheel wear inspections. Standard refers this work to specialists and does not issue railgear certification.
Is a railgear inspection the same as a railway operating licence or CROR training?
No. A railgear inspection concerns the vehicle’s railway equipment. A railway operating licence applies to the railway operation, while Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) training concerns personnel qualifications. Equipment inspection alone does not authorise a person or vehicle to enter railway track.
How often does my HiRail equipment need an inspection?
Confirm the interval and required documentation with the railgear manufacturer, the railway you work for and the inspection provider. Requirements depend on the equipment and operating rules; a road vehicle safety inspection does not replace a railgear inspection.
Can Standard coordinate a vehicle transfer for an account holder?
Yes. Our account holders can arrange complimentary drop off or pickup with either preferred provider. Timing and vehicle movement are agreed in advance. The specialist deals with and bills the customer directly, and Standard receives no referral commission.
