HiRail suspension, Repair & Railway Accounts · Winnipeg, Manitoba

A core Standard strength

Leaf spring work for railway service vehicles.

A visible break is only one part of the spring assembly. We examine the remaining leaves, U bolts, bushings, shackles, hangers and axle seating before recommending repair or replacement.

Leaf springs and spring assemblies stocked on orange steel racks.

Spring work can improve support or ride characteristics, but it does not change the manufacturer’s GVWR or axle ratings.

Common spring concerns

Start with what changed.

  • A leaf is cracked, shifted or missing
  • One corner of the unit sits lower
  • The spring pack has spread or lost its shape
  • There is movement or noise near the axle
  • Bushings or spring mounting hardware show wear
Spring service options

What we can review.

  • Broken leaf assessment and suitable repair leaf replacement
  • Complete spring pack replacement
  • Spring pack rebuilding after assessment
  • U bolts, centre bolts, bushings and mounting hardware

Helpful answers

Questions about this service.

Direct answers help confirm whether the unit and requested work belong at Standard HiRail.

Can Standard HiRail repair one broken leaf?

Sometimes. The remaining pack, the break location, spring dimensions and related hardware must be inspected before an individual repair leaf can be recommended.

Do you replace complete spring packs?

Yes, for supported applications. Vehicle configuration, spring dimensions, installed equipment and intended use are checked before the pack and hardware are confirmed.
